Our son is almost 2 years old and has been on 6 roundtrip flights so far. The first flight we took him on was when he was 4 months old and he was relatively easy to travel with. I held him, he drank milk and slept the whole time. The older he gets, the more challenging traveling becomes and the more gadgets and toys we need to keep him occupied. Here is a list of things we have used when traveling.

For the first few flights, we took our UPPAbaby Vista, which I love but it is very big and heavy to travel with. Plus, every time we fly, the airlines are rough with it. I hate watching a thousand dollars literally get thrown around. If you do choose to bring your UPPAbaby Vista, make sure you buy the travel bag.

Before our most recent flight, I decided to do some research and invest in a travel stroller. I read lots of blogs and articles and decided the CYBEX Libelle 2 was the best choice for us. It is lightweight and folds up small enough to fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you on the airplane. This means you don’t have to check it before going through security and then have to carry your child all the way through the airport. The alternative is gate checking it, however, then you are standing around waiting on the bridge for them to bring it out to you. As you can see below, it folds up smaller than our carry on and our little one was very comfortable in it.

This is a must have when traveling because not all places are conducive to using a stroller. This baby carrier can be worn 6 different ways. My husband and I are both able to wear it and it holds children from 7-45lbs.

If we’re going to be renting a car on vacation, we always bring our carseat and check it in using this carseat travel bag, which has wheels and can be worn as a backpack.

These headphones are perfect for using on the airplane or in the car. If traveling on a plane that has TVs, these plug right into the seat and our son was able to watch a show. They’re also great with a tablet, just check if you need an adapter.

It’s good to have a few different toys and activities that your child has never seen before so they are excited about having something new to play with. These reusable sticker books kept our son occupied and they don’t take up any space at all.

I thought these would be perfect because they’re magnetic so they would stay together and not make a big mess. There are only 6 pieces but on the back it shows you how to make 49 different configurations.

This travel size Magna Doodle was a hit. Our son loved scribbling on it.

These suction cup spinners were also a hit. We put them on the window and he loved spinning them and using the poppers.

I used these zipper pouches to organize my carry on bag. I used them to hold the toys and activities. I also used them for headphones, a change of clothes and I put diapers and wipes in one to make an easy grab and go diaper bag.

These reusable snack bags are perfect for travel snacks and I love that they are washable and reusable. I used them for fruit, cereal and peanut butter sandwiches.

This stain spray is a must have. I keep one in my laundry room, one in the diaper bag and one in my carry on. I love that it is also biodegradable and fragrance free.

These sanitizing wipes are a must have in any bag. I keep a pack in the diaper bag and one in my carry on. I use them to clean any surface on the plane that our little one will be touching. They’re also good for sanitizing tables in restaurants and high touch surfaces in hotel rooms such as the door knobs and TV remote.

However you’re traveling, when you’re traveling with a toddler, it is important that you are prepared for any situation.
