Winter in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Jackson Hole is a winter wonderland, attracting outdoor enthusiasts, families, and adventure-seekers from all over the world. Whether you’re planning to hit the slopes, explore Grand Teton National Park, or just enjoy the cozy mountain vibes, Jackson is hands down one of the most charming and breathtaking destinations out there. I had a feeling I was going to like it, but I didn’t know that I wouldn’t be ready to leave after 8 days in this winter wonderland.
Getting There
Let me start by saying, Jackson Hole Airport is unlike any airport I’ve ever been to. We landed and we were surrounded by snow-covered mountains. They had complimentary mimosas in the baggage claim area! Talk about starting the trip on the right note. Our bags arrived quickly, and even better, there were free luggage carts. This was an absolute lifesaver considering the amount of stuff we were hauling—2 large suitcases, a snowboard bag, a carry-on, a diaper bag, 2 car seats, and, of course, 2 kids in a double stroller.
I did buy a luggage strap that allows you to pull multiple bags together, which was a game changer for us. You can grab one here.
When it came to renting the car, there was no line at the Avis counter. I walked up, the guy handed me the keys and we were on our way.

Things to Do in Jackson Hole in the Winter
We spent 8 days in Jackson Hole, and honestly, I could have stayed longer—there’s so much to do and see! Here are some highlights from our trip:
Stroll Around Downtown Jackson: The town itself is charming, with cute shops, galleries, and cozy restaurants everywhere.
Drive Through Grand Teton National Park: The park is stunning in winter, with snow-covered peaks and peaceful landscapes. We didn’t get to explore as much as we wanted, because a lot was closed off due to the snow, but it was still gorgeous.
Snowboarding: My husband hit the slopes for 4 days of snowboarding fun. He was in heaven!
Ice Cream in Idaho: We drove over the Teton Mountains into Idaho to stop at The Emporium for some of the best ice cream in the small town of Victor.
Children’s Museum: The kids loved this spot! It's the perfect place for little ones to burn some energy.
Wildlife Watching: We took a few scenic drives to admire the mountains and spot wildlife. We saw moose, elk, deer, and even a coyote!
There was still so much we didn’t get to do, which means we’re already looking forward to a return trip! I’d love to check out the Granite Hot Springs, the Teton Raptor Center, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art. And of course, I can’t forget Yellowstone National Park, which is only accessible by snowmobile in the winter. I’d also love to visit Grand Teton National Park again during the summer when more areas are open.
Where to Eat in Jackson Hole
The food scene in Jackson Hole didn’t disappoint. We had some incredible meals, and I made sure to look up family-friendly restaurants since we were traveling with little ones. Here’s a list of places we absolutely loved:
Liberty Burger: A local favorite with delicious burgers. A great stop for lunch.
The Merry Piglets Mexican Grill: Authentic and flavorful Mexican food in a cozy setting.
Wilson Pizza in Wilson: We ventured to Wilson for pizza, and it did not disappoint. Perfect for a family dinner.
Sidewinders: A lively spot with hearty meals and a great vibe.
Café Genevieve: Great for breakfast or brunch.
On The Hook Fish and Chips Food Truck: If you’re craving fish and chips, this food truck is a must-try.
The Emporium: As mentioned earlier, this gem in Victor, Idaho, is perfect for a treat after a scenic drive.
Yippi-I-O Candy Co: For those with a sweet tooth, this candy shop is heaven on earth. We had to go back for more fudge because it was that good!
Jackson Hole has so much to offer—whether you’re into outdoor adventures, wildlife viewing, or simply relaxing in a cozy condo by the fire. We had an amazing time, and there’s still so much more we want to see and do. It’s definitely a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a winter getaway, and I’m already looking forward to our next trip!
